" EVERYTHING BEGINS IN YOUR MIND. YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE WHEN YOUR MINDSET CHANGES. "

From a Young Age, Stevon knew that he was created to make a difference. It was evident that
Stevon would not fall victim to his environment despite trying to fit in with those around him.
As a young black male growing up without his biological father in the home, he knows how it
feels to be labeled by a statistic before even having the opportunity to prove himself. In the
second grade, Stevon was told that he would "grow up to become a bum" by his teacher after receiving a bad note from a substitute. In the third grade he lied to his parents about being the Student of the Month at school. In Fourth grade, he was regarded as the “slowest” person in his class. Truth be told, Stevon was a brilliant
student. He just didn’t know what he was capable of.

In 8th grade, Stevon found himself at the crossroad that many middle schoolers face, finding out who they are and where they belong. He often found himself trying to fit in with the wrong crowd, struggling to receive good grades, & hanging with gang members to be accepted by someone, somewhere. But his teachers in middle school saw something different within him. Though he would go on to make bad decisions such as forging signatures on his report card, causing distractions for his classmates, and bullying, his teachers would continually call him grandpa. Not because he looked old, not because they wanted to make fun of him, but because they could tell that he was a lot wiser than his age however he was just misdirected. Nevertheless, his teachers continued to pour into this lost boy, planting a seed that would sprout many years later.

stevon understands the importance of MENTORSHIP

It’s because of those moments in school, it’s because of the examples set by Stevon’s stepfather, Grandfather, and other role models and mentors (including Jeremy Anderson and Dr. Eric Thomas) that he is who he is today! Stevon would go on to graduate high school with a 3.69 GPA, enroll in college, and receive awards such as Student of The Year, President of the Year, Fraternity Member of the Year, President’s List & Dean’s List. The seed that was planted many years ago has sprung and today Stevon now lives to speak life into the next generation to show them that there is a leader inside of them!
